In case that you are a Snook fisher then you understand what those numbers represent. But, if your not then 28-32 incheses is the slot that the snook have to be in to keep them. Snook are incredibly safeguarded fish, and that they ought to be. I prefer to think of them as my treasures because I in most cases catch in release. I usually only keep just one per year. This is apparently my 1st article and I am basically just learning the web template and playing around with some of the settings-- there will be more useful text as the online site grows!

I actually transfered to Southern Florida 5 year or soes ago (2007). I remained down here for about 9 thirty day periods at that time and progressed to ramble around the nation. Within a year of leaving I decided to come back for good, it was the sportfishing that called me back. Right now there is nothing like it, if you have never fished South Florida then you are missing out-- that simple.

So here I am, still dwelling North of West Palm Beach. Just one of the main places that taught me how to fight big fish was certainly the Palm Beach Inlet Pump House, it is nick named Snook Heaven.

We have a blast when we go out here. The Snook are virtually always champing here, no mater what time of season. I have indeed landed lunkers day, evening, summer, and winter season. Its full of mostly medium size Snook, but there are some much bigger swimming about waiting for some wholesome baits. Snook are not the only fish which I have taken out here-- we have landed everything throughout bait runs-- even enormous Tarpon.

So yes, I learned how to fish the Inlet. At the time I was abiding on Singer Island and pretty much experienced all over that island hunting for spots. Having the lawmans called on me was reasonably common, but even they began to gain a remarkable report with me. The police officers on Singer Island come to pass fairly laid back if you show them some appreciation (just like most sheriffs), they really just don't enjoy bums (pardon my french). I just did whatever I had to do to get in the sea. I adapted a lot of wade angling that season, waistline deep within the inter coastal fishing soft lures in the mangs by using my steadfast Stradic-- those were the good old days!

Furthermore there was this one area that I liked to go, itted is directly in front of this ladies condominium. I would generally park like half a mile away on the grounds that she had previously called up the sheriffs on me 3 or 4 occasions. I recall sneaking in to the mangs and splashing out with my rod and bookbag hoping that I wouldn't get caught by a sea beast. This lady must have indeed constantly been on the hunt for people fishing there considering on any occasion I would walk out in front of precisely where the Mangroves ceased and within the section that was in front of her home, I would undoubtedly always see her standing in the big picture window. Once I caught on to where to park so she couldn't screw me, I could just look pleased, wave, and cast ever so peacefully into that inter coastal water. That year I lived on Singer Island was one of the best years of my life time.

In fishing the pump house and wading the spots I found in the inter coastal, I was able to meet a few cool natives that were down to school me up on fishing down here. I am super grateful for those guys and hopefully you will get to hear more about them in my later posts.

fishing rod review

Lets join in conversation about one of the reels I do own, the Shimano Stradic FI 4000

The main detail I love regarding this reel is that it is lightweight and incredibly strong. When I started to study salt water fishing I went out and purchased some arbitrary rod and reel mix with this weighty freakin reel on it. After I casted that thing over 25 times, I was ready to dub it a day. With the Stradic FI 4000, I can cast tons of times without getting the least bit burnt out. I burned through a few other little off label reels trying to keep lightweight tackle, and then I found this tiny baby. Im rather darn sure that this reel will for life be my favorite. I have the Shimano Stradic FI 4000 specifications listed below. Now this is for the older design of Stradic fishing reel made by Shimano. They do have a newer version out that I have not tried yet, but it appears really heavenly.

Line Capacity (lb|yds) 8|240, 10|200, 12|160-- Exactly what is this? That is a small reel in comparison to big game fishing reels, but it is all you need for capturing fish from shore. I have recently landed 80 + pound Tarpon on this reel. One thing to remember with the line capacity is that the specifications are for mono filament line, if you are using braided line (and that you should be in my viewpoint) then the reel will accommodate way more line than what is exemplified by the spec capability.

Gear Ratio 5.8:1 - This is good. Every one time you reel the handle, it takes the reel almost 6 complete rotations. It makes for reeling in a hefty sea beast a little less stressful, just remember to keep your rod tip up so the fish doesn't break you off!

Line retrieve per crank 36 inches - This is related to the gear ratio Weight 11.6 oz - This is one of my preferred things about this reel! When I am casting manufactured baits 100 times over and over, I don't like to use a heavy reel because my arm will get tired very quickly.

Additional Features - Aluminum frame + graphite sideplate and rotor, S-Concept, S A-RB bearings, Fluidrive II, Super Stopper II, Machined aluminum handle shank, AERO Wrap II, waterproof drag, Maintenance port, Repairable clicker, and Bearings 5BB, 1RB

I used to presume that I could easily just walk into a tackle outlet, grab some inexpensive combo and be on my way. As a matter of fact, most individuals that I fished with at the time felt the same way. What I found was that I was fishing with the wrong people. The pros are using good gear, and do there research on spots. They are not only good at what they do because they use good tackle, but it has a whole lot to do with it. I dropped a link to this real for you below because it has been one of the greatest invests I have ever made in my fishing tackle.

I was fishing the St. Croix Legend Elite along with the Shimano Stradic 4000 as my own personalized combo for more than a year currently. I call her "Lady of the Lake", and she is fine-looking. I love this set up more than any other rod I have. Its lightweight, fast, and accurate. I can skip baits under mangroves with no problem, and the rod is primarily strong enough to handle significant fish. I have landed 60 pound tarpon with this fishing rod. I have found some solid specs on this rod, but words could not describe how glad I am that I made this investment.

I want to start off by bragging on my life-time warrantee. I feel relaxed understanding that anytime I take this rod out on the water I don't have to worry about hooking something "too big". If the rod gets broken in half by one of the sea beasts that live off the shores of Palm Beach then St Croix will replace it for life!

St. Croix has been making superb fishing rods for several years and they are well known for their high quality and all American fishing gear. But there are two additional advancements that divide them from other premium rod vendors. It's their new and exciting advanced SCV graphite and the new high tech IPC tooling process that has been applied to their Legend Elite series rods.

St. Croix Legend Elite (ES66MF) Specs - The material they use is some cutting edge stuff, its called SCv high-modulus|high-strain graphite. It makes a world of difference for me because it keeps the rod light weight and super strong. I don't want to be tired after my 50th cast.

Love at First site: As soon as I took this rod up at my local tackle shop I was hooked on it. It was so LIGHT WEIGHT! It was almost unbelievable. I mean come on 3.5 OZ! Then I saw the price tag, and set it back down. The moment I started checking out the different stuff in there, the guy working the store walked over and picked up the St Croix. He stated "You have any idea how awesome this rod is?" and at that point went ahead to sell me on it.
